Commonwealth Games 2014-Day 1

CWG 14-Day 1-India won:
2 Golds in Weight Lifting-
3 Silvers(1 in Weight Lifting and 2 in Judo)
2 Bronze(1 each in Weight Lifting and Judo).
So 4 medals in Weight Lifting and 3 in Judo
Not a bad start for Day 1 by india
Weight Lifting has always been good for India
But Judo medals is some thing new and welcome!

Kala Ghoda Festival 2008 - Elitest ????

After visiting the kala ghoda festival,the last couple of days,I get the feeling that is this whole thing too elitest.
Is it by the elite?
For the elite?
Walking around,seeing the crowd,you realise maybe that's waht the sponsors want for this event ..
There are few big names in the field of art,dance,music and theatre.
But it all depends on what the organisers want to achieve and whol do they wnat to reach out to.
It's a good effort.
Each year there is more being added.
So let us hope next year ,will be more bigger and better....

Drunken Driving

This morning papers had a story on 6 persons sentenced for 1 month prison due to drunk driving..
This is one meseaure of the police which is working.
Now at any party,you hear talk of be careful of your drinking if you are driving.
This was long over due and should be continued vigourously,to send the message across.
The only thing people fear is the stick of the law.
Nothing else.

Now the next thing on their agenda should be Teenage drinking...
This is a big problem...
Ask me .. I have a teenage son...

Which Ab Crucher to buy ??

This morning ,a friend called up and asked,which ab crucncher to buy to reduce his waist.
I answered him....none!!
As an ab crucher maching does not reduce the size of waist .
At the most,it will tone up and strengthen the ab group of muscles.
And for that alos,you do not need an ab crucher.
Good old fashioned siut ups,curl ups and cruches are as effective if not better.

The only thing to reduce the size of the waist is to burn fat,by doing cardio exercises like brisk walking,joggin,swimming,cycling,etc..
And of course eating sensibly..
And strength trianing also helps as it builds up muscles..and more muscles means higher resting metabolism..so more calories are burnt at rest..

There are no short cuts or magic formula..
Lets face it..

Isnt it wonderful that an Indian trianer has been signed up Sania,when she could have signed by anybody in the world ,to be her trianer.
Renuka has all the qualifications to help Sania with her fitness and injuries.
It's high time other sports also started looking inwards for talent ,rather then paying fat salaries to foreigners.
Hope Cricket,Football,Hockey and others follow suit.....
